Terms of Service

Last updated: July 14, 2026

The short version

Use the app for personal, everyday “is this vegan?” checks. Pip is a helpful guide — not a guarantee. Always read the label yourself for allergies, medical, or dietary needs. Be decent: don't abuse or attack the service.

These Terms are an agreement between you and Alan Wizemann, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“we,” “us”), for the “What’s Vegan?” app and website (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What the Service is

What’s Vegan? helps you check whether a product is likely vegan, vegetarian, or not, by reading barcodes and ingredient labels and grading them. It's a convenience tool to save you squinting at fine print.

2. Verdicts are a guide, not a guarantee

This is the important part. Verdicts are generated automatically from label data and can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date — labels change, packaging varies by region, and manufacturers reformulate. The Service is not medical, dietary, allergy, or nutritional advice.

If you have a food allergy or a medical or religious dietary requirement, do not rely on the app — read the product's own ingredient list and allergen information, and contact the manufacturer if you're unsure. You are responsible for what you choose to eat.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use the Service.

4. Your use of the Service

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app. You agree not to:

  • abuse, overload, probe, or attack the Service, or try to bypass its security or rate limits;
  • scrape, bulk-download, or resell the catalog or data;
  • reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it;
  • use the Service to break the law or infringe others' rights.

5. Photos and content you submit

When you submit a photo, you confirm you have the right to do so and that it doesn't contain other people's personal information. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, and display that content to operate and improve the Service — including showing a clear product photo as a product's catalog image. See the Privacy Policy for how this is handled.

6. Price — free now, maybe paid later

The app is currently free. We may later introduce paid features or subscriptions. Any purchase will be made through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple's terms; see our Refund Policy. We'll always be clear about what (if anything) costs money before you buy it.

7. “As is,” and limits on liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including any warranty that verdicts are accurate or complete. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Alan Wizemann, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision you make based on a verdict. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Changes, and ending use

We may update the Service or these Terms; material changes will be reflected by the date above. You can stop using the Service at any time, and we may suspend access that abuses these Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
